Tell us what you think of our site, let us know what
charitable organization you support and if you have a web-site that raises money for a particular cause give us a link to
that site and we will be sure to send people to it to support you. People Helping People is basically what this is all
about. There are so many programs that profess to helping those in need, but when it comes right down to it in most
cases they are helping to make their wallets thicker.
This is my beautiful wife Shirley. She has suffered
with Epilepsy since she was fourteen. She is now fifty-nine. For most of her life she was unable to work.
Not that she did not want to work but rather when she was employed the slightest form of pressure would catapult her into
a Grand Mall seizure, causing her to loose her job. A few years ago, the disability committee in Indianapolis had the
bright idea to put her into a Goodwill Learning Program to teach her how to be more productive in the community. The
rest of those in her class were people with different types of retardations. Shirley's first and only child George (Georgie)
was born 98 percent retarded. Although Shirley was able to perform her duties adequately, she was also among people
that would screem uncontrolably, throw items at one another, or cause other types of distruptions. On the third or fourth
day, Shirley had a violent Grand Mall seizure. I was called to come and get her. When I arrived and asked where
she was, the director led me to a small, darkened room. When I entered, Shirley was at the far end of the room, in a
wheelchair bound up, facing the wall. I immediately rushed over, after flicking on the light switch, and began undoing
the restraints. The Director told me that I was not allowed to do that. Looking down at Shirley's Horror stricken
face, I demanded to know what form of torture this school was inflicting on her. The director shrugged her shoulders
and simply replied, "Our students must learn what is expected of them in society." After hugging Shirley and calming
her down, I turned the wheelchair around wheeled past the director and said, "She is no longer one of your students."
Too often, in our So-Called-Society people are treated for symptoms
that they do not have and not treated for symptoms that they do have.
If a person has a broken leg, you do not treat it by resetting
their arm, if a person suffers from neurological disorders you do not treat it by putting them in with those with violent
dis-orders.
Shirley now has her own organization called "Shirley's
Epilepsy Awareness Program" that has been approved by the Nationa Epilepsy Foundation. She is also embarking on her
own singing career with her newly formed band "Shirley's Bound For Glory Band" This has been an up-hill battle all the
way because, although many people say, "Oh, what a nice thing you are doing" when you ask them for help they stutter and say
that they just don't have the time right now. There are two events that are coming up in the Indianapolis/Greenwood
area that Shirley has been working around the clock on. One is a Hawaiin Luau scheduled for around the 14th of July
2007, and the other is a Golf Outing scheduled for the 10th of August 2007. If you would like to help out on either
of these events, whether through Sponsorship, Volunteerism, Decorations, making or taking phone calls, or even just simply
purchasing some items on this site it would be greatly appreceiated. Basically this site is about people's needs, not
government needs. It is time for WE THE PEOPLE to have a voice!!
